Medical Assisting & Phlebotomy
Medical Assistant Jobs are expected to be one of the ten fastest growing occupations. Clinical duties include taking medical histories, vital signs, blood pressure, pulse, respirations, temperatures, drawing blood and collecting specimens, medication administration, explaining and preparing patients for exams and assisting the physician during examinations and procedures. Administrative duties include patient reception, appointment scheduling, insurance, billing and coding, updating patient records and facilities management. Students will do a clinical internship starting in March for 10 weeks. Clinical hours will vary depending on site. The student is eligible to take both the Medical Assisting and Phlebotomy certification test but only one is required for the completion of this program. Students must have keyboarding skills and understand fundamentals of computers. Laptops are included and used throughout the program.
