Licensed practical nurses (LPNs) help care for the sick, injured and well people of all ages. Students will work closely with patients in many health care settings. The course of study is day time and can be either 1 year (44 weeks) of full time study or 2 years (88 weeks) of part time study. The program integrates class room study and clinical hands-on nursing.
Part time students complete all the non nursing courses the first year. This is 210 hours of class work. The second year has 1,000 hours and includes the nursing courses. Articulation agreements for course transfer are in place if graduates wish to pursue becoming a registered nurse. Sandusky Career Center School of Practical Nursing graduates will receive advanced standing if they continue their nursing education at Lorain County Community College or Firelands Regional Medical Center School of Nursing.
The next full time and part time classes will begin January of 2013. Applications for that class will be available beginning in March of 2012.
