The Sandusky City Schools Facilities team is making great progress toward construction of our new buildings and will begin work on the 3-6 Intermediate building on Hayes Avenue beginning in 2018. Fencing will be installed around the site over Winter break for the safety of our students and staff, which will result in changes to drop-off and pick-up locations and traffic flow around Sandusky Middle School and Sandusky High School.

These changes are effective Monday, January 8, 2018. Thank you for your cooperation and patience as we enter this exciting new phase of our Facilities project.

If your child is a bus rider for SMS or SHS they will be dropped off and picked up in the front circle of the high school.

The north drive of SHS will be closed. No traffic or parking will be permitted on the North Drive during the construction phase.  Drivers who have utilized the former hospital parking lot for drop off or pick up will be unable to do so.  The entire lot will be fenced in due to construction.

From 3-4 p.m. each school day, cars will not be permitted to enter the SHS front circle and park. Persons needing to enter SHS or SMS during this time frame are asked to utilize the parking lot near the Perkins Ave. entrance to SMS and the parking lot in the rear of SHS.

From 8-9 a.m. and again from 3-4 p.m. Novelty St. (which connects Buchanan St. and Perkins Ave.) will be a one-way street. Traffic will only be permitted to travel south on Novelty St.  Traffic will be prohibited from traveling north on Novelty St. behind SHS during the aforementioned hours.

Parent pick up and drop for SHS & SMS will continue to be located in the back of SHS & SMS.  Drivers for after-school pick up will be asked to utilize the SHS parking lot as well as the former Bus lanes located on the south side of the parking lot. Drivers are not permitted to wait in the Perkins Ave. parking lot near the entrance to SMS.

All students who walk home after school will exit the SMS/SHS buildings on the north side of SHS.  Students will be able to walk north and south on Hayes Ave. as they leave campus.  Students will not be permitted to walk home via Novelty St.  Those students who wish to walk north east of campus may utilize Buchanan St.

Questions or concerns may be directed to Mr. Poggiali's office: 419-984-1015 or via email: dpoggiali@scs-k12.net.
