My purpose as the instructional leader of Hancock Elementary School is to produce a body of believers and academic achievers one goal, one plan, and one student at a time. At the very center of my philosophy as the principal of Hancock School are differentiation, collaboration, empowerment, and the academic transforming of each individual student from preschool through 6th grade.
The focus and mission of Hancock School correlates to the very goals and mission of the Sandusky City School District in the Transformation of the district into a primer educational entity with a focus on preparing the students we service to compete in this 21st Century, global society. It is integral for me to continue to be a master role model by which to guide the team of educational leaders and new staff at Hancock, as we work together to bring a vision of academic excellence and a high level of expectation to our school.
Safety and security will not be negotiated at Hancock Elementary School. I believe all schools should establish a building environment that is welcoming to our parents and guests, and also where students are safe for a conducive learning environment. I believe in demonstrating a customer friendly attitude which represents a bright smile to greet each individual that comes through the doors, a kind friendly voice that connects to our callers on the phone, and a simple sense of caring for all is a demand that shall not be compromised.
It has been researched and proven that one of the vital components of academic achievement and success for all school-aged students is parental involvement. Given the substantial influence that parental involvement has on a child’s academic success, Hancock School will continue to promote and provide programs which will encourage our families, community members, and church volunteers to become more involved in their children's schooling.
My success to see Hancock’s students academically achieve is not determined by who I have on my staff, the number of students I service in my building, or the number of hours spent in my office. However, my success is determined by engaging in the role of making sure the mission of the Sandusky City Schools is followed: “to provide a diverse educational experience where all students will become respected, productive, and valued members of our community.”
