Safety & Security

Sandusky City Schools is fully committed to the health and safety of all students, faculty, staff, and visitors. We believe that occupant safety and a healthy environment make the district schools a better place to learn and work. Each school building in the district has a variety of measures in place to ensure we are doing our best to keep students and faculty safe. Some of these measures include (but are not limited to); locked entrances, camera doorbells to ring into the building, and guest sign-ins inside our lobbies immediately when entering the building. Additionally, the district has two Student Resource Officers on campus throughout the day.

Public SchoolWORKS is an online training tool used by the district to promote a safe and healthy school environment to minimize health and safety risks to the district community. Training is tailored to individual staff members and is developed based on regulations, job functions and personal growth. Fire Safety, Safety Rules, CPR Training and Bloodborne Pathogens are just a few of the dozens of course offerings.

WHAT IS BULLYING?
Bullying is aggressive behavior that is intentional and that involves an imbalance of power or strength. Typically, it is repeated over time. A child who is being bullied has a hard time defending him or herself. Bullying can take many forms, such as hitting or punching (physical bullying); teasing or name calling (verbal bullying); and intimidation using gestures or social exclusion (nonverbal bullying or emotional bullying).

Bullying also can happen online or electronically. Cyber bullying is when children or teens bully each other using the Internet, mobile phones or other cyber technology. This can include:
  •  Sending mean text, email, or instant messages;
  •  Posting inappropriate pictures or messages about others in blogs or on web sites;
  •  Using someone's user name to spread rumors or lies about someone.
