Preschool Program

Preschool Program

The Sandusky City Preschool Program serves children 3-5 years of age. Each classroom includes an equal mix of typically developing children and children with special needs. The typically developing children, referred to as Peer Models, are an integral part of the preschool program as they demonstrate age appropriate communication, planning and self-help skills. The Preschool program is staffed by teachers licensed by the Ohio Department of Education and follows a developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with the State of Ohio’s Early Learning Content Standards. We believe it is important to provide a safe and nurturing setting in which to foster each child’s self-help, motor, language, social, emotional, and cognitive development. Each classroom has a lead and assistant teacher who guide children in varied learning experiences. These activities are primarily child-oriented and child directed. The overall goal is to foster in each child a positive sense of their own self-worth and a belief in their own ability to learn and grow as capable, independent individuals.
