The Randolph J. and Estelle M. Dorn Foundaton has made a one million dollar gift to the Sandusky City Schools to support the Regional Center for Advanced Academic Studies and the Preschool Initiative. Mel Stouffer, President of the Dorn Foundation Board said, "we believe in the Sandusky City Schools because the schools are central to the overall success of our city and region." John Bacon, President of The Mack Iron Works Company and trustee of the Dorn Foundation said, "we also believe these two efforts represent key elements in transforming our schools in order to meet the needs of the 21st century economy." $500,000 will go the District's recently announced Regional Center for Advanced Academics and an additional $500,000 to the Preschool Initiative for restructuring Early Childhood Education.
